June 2017
I was approached by a local band asking if I could design some artwork for their new album cover. I showed them a few designs I had been working on and one design they liked in particular was my “Reaching For Death” design which was set inside a fading polaroid. It was decided that was wasgoing to be the design for their new album.
I did this before I had access to digital drawing software, so I first sketched out the outline of the hands using graphite pencil. I used a black fineliner to go over the hands. I didn’t have access to a scanner so I took a photo of the drawing, emailed it to myself, and imported it into Microsoft PowerPoint. This is where I created the polaroid outline using the shape tool. I removed the background and set it to black to make the hands stand out. I sent it over to the band who did the finishing touches.
The design was used on an album cover, the front of a CD, on lighters, on stickers, and on tshirts.
